The Netherlands has beautiful beaches that are perfect for a day out. Most coastal towns are also easily accessible by public transport, allowing you to enjoy a trip without parking stress. Here’s how you can reach the most beautiful beaches by public transport.

1. Scheveningen

Scheveningen is perhaps the most famous beach in the Netherlands. From The Hague Central Station, you can take tram 9, which takes you directly to the boulevard. Tram 9 runs every 10 minutes. Bus 22 also runs from the station to Scheveningen, with a frequency of about five times per hour.

2. Zandvoort aan Zee

This beach is very easily accessible by train. From Amsterdam Central Station, you can reach Zandvoort in just 30 minutes, and from the station, you can walk straight onto the beach. A train runs every half hour between Amsterdam and Zandvoort, with additional trains in the summer.

3. Bloemendaal aan Zee

Bloemendaal might be the trendiest coastal town in the Netherlands. To get here, first take a train to Haarlem and then bus 81 to Bloemendaal aan Zee. This bus runs twice an hour, with additional services in the summer. The bus also continues to Zandvoort.

4. Hoek van Holland

Since the metro line from Rotterdam to Hoek van Holland Strand was extended, this beach has become perfectly accessible. Take metro line B from RET and get off at the Hoek van Holland Strand stop. From there, it's just a few minutes’ walk to the sea.

5. Egmond aan Zee

Egmond aan Zee is a charming seaside resort that you can reach by first traveling to Alkmaar station. From there, take bus 165, which gets you to Egmond aan Zee within 20 minutes. The bus stops close to the beach and runs twice an hour.

6. Noordwijk

Noordwijk is easily accessible via Leiden Central Station. From there, take bus 21 or bus 23 towards Noordwijk. Both buses run twice an hour and will bring you to the beach in about 30 minutes.

7. Katwijk aan Zee

Katwijk is also well connected to Leiden Central Station. Take bus 30 or 31 towards Katwijk and get off at the boulevard. Both buses run once per hour. From there, you can walk straight onto the beach and enjoy the beautiful coastline.8. Domburg

Domburg is one of the most beautiful beaches in Zeeland and is easily accessible by public transport. Take the train to Middelburg and transfer to bus 52 towards Domburg. The bus stops in the center, and from there, you can walk straight to the beach.

9. Oostkapelle

Looking for a quieter beach? Then Oostkapelle might be the right choice for you. Take the train to Middelburg and transfer to bus 53 to Oostkapelle. From the bus stop, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the beach.

10. Cadzand-Bad

Cadzand-Bad is located in the far south of the Netherlands, near Belgium. Take the train to Vlissingen, board the ferry to Breskens, and then take bus 42 towards Cadzand-Bad.
